Our kidding season runs from October through February. We have tried different times in the year, but for our farm the kids do much better with the cooler months. It is an exciting time for us!! The whole family get involved, the children have learned some great life lessons helping with this fantastic and hearting breaking time. The does do get special attention and may be a bit spoiled at times. But we are striving for strong animals, mother nature can throw some curves. Our January kidding is the most challenging for us. Northwest Missouri can be brutal with temps, snow, ice and then fracture in the wind chills. We set up lights for the kids in their own special areas, out of reach of the does. Several trips to the barn at night, but it is all worth it. The children have their favorites that they like to help with and come up with some great names.
